Charles Feldman started Universal Lighting in 1949 in the basement of his parents’ home in Toronto. He began importing porcelain and Capodimonte vases, giftware and figurines from Italy but, before long, Chuck was bringing in the parts needed to convert some of his inventory into lamps. As the business grew, Universal Lighting moved to ever-larger premises. From our first showroom at 343 Adelaide Street West, through our 1962 move to 647 King Street West, we presented our expanded product line of lighting fixtures, as well as an extensive range of table and floor lamps, and coffee tables.

Good just wasn’t good enough for Chuck. He wanted to offer his loyal customers even more, and so, in 1971, Universal Lighting relocated to our current address at 121 Cartwright Avenue. Universal Lighting has evolved into a premier lighting showroom with world-class selection, competitive pricing and a wonderful reputation. While the company has expanded its product offering, and developed expertise in residential and commercial lighting design, Universal Lighting remains committed to our core principle of serving our customers in the most professional of ways, just as Chuck did since his very first sale.

Return Policy

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchases. If for any reason you are not satisfied, you may return most non-installed items for refund or exchange within 21 days of receipt.

  • Products must be new, unused (never installed) and unaltered (no clipped wires).
  • The entire fixture must be returned with all accessories and in its original packaging and factory carton.
  • Products must be repackaged properly in the original packaging and be received in sellable condition.
  • A copy of the original receipt must be inside the carton.
  • Contact us by phone or email upon receipt of items you wish to return. A Return Goods Authorization (RGA) will be issued to you. This number must be included inside the returned box.
  • If items are damaged upon receipt, a photograph of the item must be taken, and sent to us via email within 48 hours.
  • Shipping fees are non-refundable. The cost of shipping will be subtracted from the total refund or credit amount.
  • We recommend including insurance on your return shipment. We cannot accept damaged items.
  • Clearance items are final sale.
  • Custom items are final sale. Custom items are anything we do not stock in the showroom and have to order specially for you, as well as anything being custom-made for you. The sales representative who gets in touch with you about your order will let you know if any items you have chosen are custom order.
