We know that lighting
can have such a dramatic effect on the way a space looks,
feels and functions and so we have designed 'light labs'
(lighting demonstration facilities) to help our customers
experience a wide array of different types of lighting. These
'labs' are rooms we have set up in which we have placed
many different types of lighting, all controlled with separate
switches or dimmers.
By being able to
see the effects of different types of lighting, by experiencing
the feeling of lighting in a room and by being able to
compare different types of lighting, we can help you make
a truly informed decision about what lighting product best
suits your needs. You can't get that by just looking
at a lighting product in a display or on a shelf.
We have found these
rooms so helpful in working with our customers, that our
labs are now an integral part of our lighting design consultation
services. If you are building or renovating a residential
or office space, since it is so important to understand
what the lighting will do, you should plan to visit to
our light labs early in your design process so you can
truly assess all the lighting alternatives. (Please call
ahead for an appointment.)
For
example in our residential light lab, some of the many
lighting effects we demonstrate:
-
Down-lighting
with low voltage halogen vs. line voltage halogen
recessed lights ('pot lights' as they are known
in Canada or 'cans' as they are referred to in
the U.S.)
-
Cove
lighting with fluorescent (T8/830 lamp) vs.
incandescent (Xenon lamp) lighting
-
Comparing
general lighting achieved with a fixture vs. recessed
lighting vs. wall sconces (and a combination of
all three)
-
Accent
lighting vs. general lighting
-
Lighting
artwork with picture lights vs. overhead recessed
(low voltage halogen)
-
Layering

Combining
'Layers' of Lighting
This scene
reflects the way a room could be lit with a combination
of different types of lighting, each controlled separately.
These
low resolution photographs only begin to show some
of the lighting effects that we can create in our light
labs. We encourage you to visit us to experience
the lighting for yourself. |
